MONTREAL - The Montreal Alouettes announced on Friday that the team has reached an agreement with non-import guard Andrew Woodruff.

Woodruff (6'3, 320 lbs.), has signed a new three-year deal with Montreal following another solid campaign in 2012 during which the 27-year-old started 17 regular-season games.

The fourth-year guard played an integral role in the Alouettes' blocking schemes, opening holes for running backs Brandon Whitaker, Chris Jennings and Victor Anderson as the three collectively amassed 1,282 rushing yards.

The Victoria, BC native also anchored an offensive line that protected quarterback Anthony Calvillo from sacks, with opposing defences only reaching the veteran pivot 25 times on the season.

"Andrew has continued to climb the ladder and really hit his stride in the last half of the season under Coach Pat Meyer," said Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp. "We gauge Andrew's best years are ahead of him and are excited about his return."

A two-time Grey Cup champion with the Alouettes in 2009 and 2010, Woodruff played an integral role in helping the O-line create a clean pocket for Calvillo to locate his star slotbacks Jamel Richardson and S.J. Green-who both surpassed the 1,000-yard receiving mark in 2012.
