The Montreal Alouettes announced on Monday that the club added international defensive backs Willy Dorcin, Tyquwan Glass, Justin Gibbons, Daniel Gray, Jeremy Jackson, Jermaine Robinson, Ross Madison, Terrence Bailey and Drico Johnson as well as international linebacker Gionni Paul, international receiver Thomas Mayo. The team also signed international running backs Jakhari Gore and Daryl Virgies. They will all participate in the team’s Spring Camp in Vero Beach, FL from April 16 to 18.
Dorcin (5’10”, 170 lbs.) returns to Montreal after a stint on the team’s practice roster last fall. The 22-year-old made 130 tackles in 41 games with the Shorter University Hawks. He also pilfered four passes and knocked down 23 others, while forcing three fumbles and recovering one. The Marietta, GA native also returned 24 kickoffs for 415 yards.
Glass (5’11, 193 lbs.) played two seasons with the NCAA’s Fresno State Bulldogs in 2015-16. In two seasons and 23 games, the 23-year-old defensive back totaled 119 tackles, 21 pass deflections, one forced fumble and six interceptions. He was invited to the East-West Shrine Game in January. Glass played college in Mt. San Antonio JC. He earned All-South Coast Conference honours as a defensive back (corner/safety), notching 38 tackles, 26 solos, 14 pass breakups and seven interceptions in his final season. In 2017, he spent some time with the Los Angeles Rams.
Gibbons (6’5, 210 lbs.) played two seasons with the Aurora University Spartans in the NCAA. The 26-year-old defensive back was invited to the National Bowl and the Mexico Bowl in 2016 after a season of 30 tackles and three knockdowns. In 2015, he had 28 tackles with five interceptions and 12 pass break-ups. In 2016, he played in the National Bowl at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium. The Woodland, CA native was part of the Indianapolis Colts in 2017.
Gray (6’1”, 190 lbs.) signed with the Arizona Cardinals following his collegiate career with the Utah State Aggies, registering 87 tackles, one interception, ten knockdowns and one fumble recovery. The 24-year-old Fort Lauderdale, FL native also played one pre-season game with the New York Giants.
Jackson (5’9”, 185 lbs.) went from running back to cornerback in his final collegiate season with the University of Arkansas at Monticello Weevils. The change was beneficial for the 22-year-old, who completed the season with 40 tackles while leading the team with 18 knockdowns and two interceptions. The Hahnville, LA native amassed 838 rushing yards and scored eight majors during his first three collegiate careers, while adding 297 receiving yards.
Robinson (6’3”, 205 lbs.) played 26 games in the CFL with the Ottawa REDBLACKS and Hamilton Tiger-Cats, cumulating 56 defensive tackles and one interception. The 28-year-old defensive back had previously played four seasons for the Toledo University Rockets, amassing 229 tackles in 50 games, including 15 for losses and four sacks. The Pittsburgh, PA also pilfered eight passes and knocked down 11.
Madison (5’11”, 200 lbs.) took part in the Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos training camps. In the collegiate ranks, the 27-year-old amassed 99 tackles in 48 games and also intercepted two passes and forced two fumbles.
Bailey (6’1”, 215 lbs.) cumulated 155 tackles, including 13.5 for losses and three sacks while knocking down 12 passes and intercepting two during his collegiate career with the Webber University Warriors. The Miami, FL native was named the defensive MVP of the 2017 FCS Bowl game after making three sacks for losses of 12 yards.
Johnson (6’1”, 200 lbs.) obtained a try-out with the Arizona Cardinals following a brilliant collegiate career with the Central Florida University Knights. The 24-year-old amassed 151 tackles in 51 games with the Knights, while knocking down ten passes and intercepting two, including one for a 86-yard major.
Paul (5’10”, 230 lbs.) was a member of the BC Lions practice roster in 2016 after a stint with the Cincinnati Bengals. The 25-year-old completed his collegiate career on a strong note, as he was a First Team All-Pac 12 selection in his senior season with the Utah University Utes after amassing 55 tackles, including 18.5 for losses and 5.5 sacks. The Miami, FL native debuted his college career close to home as he played two seasons for the University of Miami Hurricanes.
Mayo (6’1”, 205 lbs.) played five games in the CFL with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2016, making 24 catches for gains of 277 yards and one touchdown. The 28-year-old receiver was also a member of the Oakland Raiders and the New York Jets.
Gore (5’9”, 190 lbs.) took part in the Indianapolis Colts rookie mini-camp last year after having played for the Florida Atlantic University Panthers and the LSU Tigers. In two seasons with the Marian University Knights, the 26-year-old Miami, FL native scored 25 majors in as many games, while amassing 1,782 yards on 276 carries.
Virgies (5’11”, 215 lbs.) was worked out by the Green Bay Packers and signed with the New York Giants after his collegiate career with the University of Virginia at Lynchburg Dragons where he demonstrated his versatility, playing on both sides of the ball. During the opening game of his senior season in 2015, he rushed for 310 yards and scored seven touchdowns on nine rushes. The previous season, he made 52 tackles while rushing the ball 22 times for gains of 320 yards and four majors
