Luc Brodeur-Jourdain to remain an Alouette

MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday that national centre Luc Brodeur-Jourdain signed a new two-year deal with the club.

Brodeur-Jourdain (6’3″, 326 lbs.) will wear an Alouettes uniform for a ninth consecutive season in 2017 as he has spent his entire professional career with his hometown team. The gentle giant has analyzed opposing defences and protected quarterbacks for almost a decade now. The two-time Grey Cup champion was named a CFL All-Star in 2012 as well as an East Division All-Star in 2012 and 2014. He was also selected the 2015 Alouettes Most Outstanding Canadian.

The 33-year-old dressed for 12 games last season, after seeing his 2015 campaign abruptly end following a knee injury. His courage and dedication to getting back to the field made him the Alouettes nominee for the Jake-Gaudaur Veteran’s trophy last season. In eight seasons, he played in 136 games, starting 106 of them. He was also a starter in six playoff games.

“Luc’s signing immediately stabilizes our offensive line for this upcoming season. He possesses all the characteristics we look for in an offensive lineman, as he hungers for wins and is smart on the field,” declared Alouettes General Manager Kavis Reed. “Luc takes the success of this team to heart and we have the sentiment that we are a better team by retaining his services.”

A true ambassador off the field, Brodeur-Jourdain is involved in the Alouettes’ many community programs. Along with his teammates, he visits schools throughout the province and encourages Quebec’s youth to stay in school and make the right decisions. He also regularly trades in his helmet and spikes for a clipboard as he helps young football players who attend the club’s different football camps.
