“If we do our jobs, we can win this game” – B.J. Cunningham

The Alouettes are heading on the road for two games: tomorrow night they will be playing in Edmonton against the Eskimos, and then the team will face their “next door neighbours,” the REDBLACKS in Ottawa, on August 19th. For B.J. Cunningham and his teammates, they completed their preparation yesterday for Thursday’s game.

His take on the game against the Lions

Even with the loss to the Lions last Thursday night, Cunningham said there were some positives that could be taken from the game. “I felt that we played as a team. The receiving corps did what we had to do, making plays and getting the ball into the opposing end. As a team, we’ll be working on what we need to improve for the game against Edmonton,” the Alouettes receiver said.

His preparation for the Eskimos

B.J. CunninghamAs the Alouettes will face the 2015 Grey Cup champions on Thursday, Cunningham is ready just as he would, when facing any other team in the league. “We’re ready for this game just as we would for any other game this season. Our goal is to win each week. In order to do that, we need to execute our plays and move the ball as deep as we can into the opposing end,” said Cunningham, who has two touchdowns so far this year.

B.J.’s take on the Eskimos’ defense

When asked about the Eskimos’ defense, Cunningham said they need to be monitored. “Edmonton has a good defense. We were able to see on film a few things that should be able to help us out in the game. If we do our jobs and execute our plays, we can win this game,” said the Columbus, Ohio native.

Jet lag

B.J. CunninghamThursday’s game will be at 9 p.m. (eastern time). However, Cunningham said he is not especially affected by games played in western Canada. “Everything depends upon rest. During our week of preparation, we need to make sure we have rest periods and we remain well-hydrated so that we are ready for the flight, the road game, and the jet lag,Cunningham said.
