Ben Cahoon will be celebrated tonight!

While the Alouettes will receive the Saskatchewan Roughriders tonight, the team’s former no86, Ben Cahoon, will be honoured during the halftime ceremony presented by TELUS. Ben Cahoon will be part of the 10 jerseys previously retired in Montreal’s Club history. Born in the state of Utah and raised by Canadian parents, he joined the team in 1998 after being drafted in the first round (sixth overall). Cahoon played 13 seasons in the Canadian Football League and spent his entire career with the Alouettes. He played 224 games, had 1,017 receptions, 13,301 receiving yards and 65 touchdowns.

Numerous distinctions

Throughout his career, Cahoon was able to lift the Grey Cup three times, as the Alouettes won the championship in 2002, 2009 and 2010. Moreover, the former number 86 was named Most Outstanding Canadian in the 2003 and 2009 Grey Cup games. He has also been named Most Outstanding Player in the circuit for two consecutive seasons, in 2002 and 2003.

Nominations kept flowing, as he was a named ten times as an East Division all-star in addition to his three-time CFL all-star titles. To this day, he still remains the leader in Grey Cup games for receptions (46) and receiving yards (658).

Ben Cahoon made history in the Canadian Football League and with the Montreal Alouettes organization. It is a legitimate decision to honour our legendary slotback by putting his name up the walls of Percival Molson Memorial Stadium alongside his distinguished forerunners.

Join us tonight at 7:00 p.m. to cheer on MISTER BEN CAHOOOOON one last time.
