MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes announced on Thursday the signing of three of their 2012 CFL Canadian Draft picks including, defensive end Bo Adebayo, linebacker Bryn Roy, Montreal-native offensive lineman Ryan White, as well as non-import receiver Ezra Millington. Adebayo signed a three-year contract with the team, while the three others signed two-year deals with the Club.

Bo Adebayo.

Adebayo (6’4”, 268 lbs.), is coming off his most successful collegiate season, recording 31 tackles and four quarterback sacks in only nine starts with the University of Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. The 24-year-old defensive end also participated in a three-day mini-camp with the NFL’s Detroit Lions.

General Manager Jim Popp’s assessment: “We took a calculated risk when drafting Bo and it has now paid off. The package that he brings to the table arguably might make him the most impactful player that was in the draft this year”.

Roy (6’1”, 225 lbs.), the former product of Texas A&M-Commerce finished the 2011 season with 29 tackles, including 19 unassisted, four for a loss and two sacks. The Delmead, AB native played one season with Texas-AM Commerce following his transfer from Adams State College in Colorado and two seasons at Snow College in Utah. The 24-year-old left his mark by recording a career-high seven defensive tackles against West Texas A&M on November 12, 2011.

General Manager Jim Popp’s assessment: “We drafted Bryn for the future and landed a surprise when he decided to come out this year. He will have a real chance to push for a spot on the 42-man roster as a special teamer”.

White (6’4’’, 290 lbs.), was a two-year starter for the Bishop’s Gaiters in 2009 and in 2010. The Montreal native started 16 consecutive games in the CIS. The highly-regarded recruit from Vanier College, also suited up for two playoff games during his tenure at Bishops’.

General Manager Jim Popp’s assessment: “Coaches at Bishop’s say he might be the most athletic offensive lineman they have ever had in their program. We like his versatility and upside for the future”.

Millington (6’0”, 195 lbs.) played three seasons at the University of Ottawa. The 23-year-old caught 18 passes for 295 yards and four touchdowns in five games with the Gee-Gees last year.

General Manager Jim Popp’s assessment: “After carefully researching the players that were available in free agency and what was available after the draft, we feel Ezra can compete for one of those important non-import receiver jobs on our team. His tall frame and muscular build gives him a chance in pro-football”.

With the signings of Adebayo, Roy and White, the Alouettes have signed all of their 2012 CFL draft picks, with the exception of Keynan Parker who is going to play his final season with the Oregon State Beavers this fall.
